Devoted Time

Notice my new blog header?

This morning at 8a.m. we gathered by the lake to have a devotion session to the Lord. It was no doubt very early, but as we dragged our feet and sleepy heads we couldn’t help but be amazed by the breathtaking view and the cooling morning breeze. The photo of my header was taken after our session, and it just felt so right to describe “It’s a kooky world out there.”

And below, is a photo taken at the Ministry House’s compound. These flowers grew wildly, but they were no less beautiful than those being planted by man. It’s taken by my humble 2 megapixel phone, and I am quite pleased on how it turned out. It reminded me of a Bible verse, and so I did some editing on the photo to share it with all of you. You can save it as a desktop wallpaper as well, as long as your resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels. If you want other sizes, feel free to drop a comment and I’ll see what I can do. Or you can just comment to tell me what you think about it, I like getting feedback about my work.

So what did I get out of this devotion time?

We studied this verse:

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. —–(John 1:10-13)

We were told to reflect upon the verse and allow God to show us what this verse is trying to say to us.

For me, God told me this simple sentence: Persevere and you shall receive your reward.

How timely this verse can be. To be honest, it has been a stressful period and there are times when I just feel like giving up. Maybe it’s a student thing, a Christian thing or maybe it’s just about being in existence with others in this world – I don’t know. Some of you may have felt or may be feeling this way as well. I guess my point is that, God knows. He knows what you do, what you need and how much you can take.

There were various messages that have been spoken to my friends that morning as well, but that was what was said to me.

I wonder what it means to you.

Alrighty, my exam begins next week, so I will be taking a short break from blogging. I’ll be back before you know it. In the meantime, take care, y’all.

I like the wallpaper, but have to pusing my kepala to read it, lol. Reminds me of what some people did on one of my old big birthday cards lol…. . And the template! All the right colours, red, black, white, all United colours, wahahahahahaha! Couldn’t have got it any better.

And what that short verse means to me… Well, it showed me before I decided to go and ‘choose’ God, he chose me first. Like the verse said, to those who believed, he gave the right etc etc… He’s always opened his arms wide to everyone, he’s always wanted to give the right for us to be His sons and daughters, we just need to take that little step of faith to believe and He’ll give it ever so willingly. =)

Did I enter a movie theatre?
God will not give us more than what we can bear and He is watching over us all the time. The problem sometimes, is are we watching Him? Love to join you all in the devotion by the lake.

WoW! This new format is gorgeous! You’re very good at doing the wordings around the flower and your header. “Persevere” the word which was drummed into my head by my dad and now I’m drumming into my daughter’s! Vern, all the very best to you in your exams. Don’t worry about us. We can wait but that paper qualification can’t! Go for it girl!

    i have a quote from my Canadian neighbor;

“Oh my god, you found GOD!”

well, I’m happy you’re having God around you because I’ve learned from many, even though our God might be different, but we still believe in something at least that kept ourself moving forward and love us.

Remember I used to tell you and your bro “loon tarn kim toon” directly translated as “be patient and you will receive your gold sovereign” meaning “persevere and you will receive your rewards”. Same thing.
